Quantity Surveyors are engaged to look after the financial aspects of building projects. This usually starts with budget cost advice at inception stage, then moves onto cost advice and budgeting through the design process, to advising on procurement methods, contract conditions, obtaining tenders and in the post contract phase to checking payments to the contractors, monitoring expenditure and agreeing the final account. An integral member of the design team giving cost advice from inception to completion.
