Pentarq is currently providing Architectural Services for the second stage of a major programme of expansion and upgrading of Kirkwall’s main Primary School.
The first stage was an extension linking the Infant and Primary schools and the creation of a new Nursery and a Resources Centre for the staff. The building was recognized with a ‘mention’ in the 2001 Civic Trust Awards.
The second stage is the refurbishment of the main Primary block, a building which has seen very little change in the last 30 years. A major programme of works will include an extension to provide 6 additional classrooms, provision of further administration accommodation and alterations to suit modern curriculum requirements.
Local contractors, Casey Construction Ltd, are currently on course to complete the works by the end of 2008.
