Pentarq were invited to submit a competition entry that would investigate the conceptual design for a proposed ‘Centre for Energy and the Environment’ in Thurso. The brief was to provide a secure business model and research facility for the post nuclear decommissioning era.
As well as addressing issues arising from the decommissioning of the Dounreay nuclear plant the building would also house environmental laboratories and the Environmental Institute’s major research brief into tidal energy.
